Child Abduction

Makin Dixon treat cases of child abduction extremely seriously and as a matter of urgency. The situation can arise as a result of family breakdown where one parent has family outside  England and Wales and returns to that family with their children, without the consent of either the other parent or the Court.  Makin Dixon have extensive expertise in this area of law, with experience of representing parents whose children have been removed without consent or parents who have removed their children from the jurisdiction.

If you believe there is an imminent risk of abduction there are emergency steps that can be taken to prevent this and protect the child. In the event you do fear that there is a risk to your child you should get in touch with us immediately in order to obtain urgent legal advice. In such situations, we can act swiftly to obtain Court Orders to prevent the removal.

Where appropriate, we will liaise with the police and other authorities to obtain Port Alerts to prevent your child from being taken out of the country.

If you want to relocate permanently abroad with a child,  or if you want to oppose your ex partner from doing so, we can advise and represent you.
